Passive se, impersonal se, and accidental se. The most natural way to avoid naming the subject.
El libro fue escrito por Cervantes. (The book was written by Cervantes.)
La casa fue construida en 1950. (The house was built in 1950.)
Los resultados serán publicados mañana. (Results will be published tomorrow.)
La puerta fue abierta. (feminine singular)
Los documentos fueron firmados. (masculine plural)
Se habla español aquí. (Spanish is spoken here.)
Se venden coches. (Cars are sold. / Cars for sale.)
Se necesita camarero. (Waiter needed.)
Se alquilan habitaciones. (Rooms for rent.)
Se vende casa. (singular) / Se venden casas. (plural)
Se necesita profesor. / Se necesitan profesores.
Se come bien aquí. (One eats well here. / The food is good here.)
Se puede aparcar. (You can park. / Parking allowed.)
¿Cómo se dice esto en español? (How do you say this in Spanish?)
No se puede fumar aquí. (You can't smoke here.)
Se me cayó el vaso. (The glass dropped on me. = I dropped the glass.)
Se me olvidó la clave. (The password forgot itself on me. = I forgot.)
Se nos rompió el coche. (The car broke on us.)
Se le perdieron las llaves. (The keys got lost on him.)
