Test your Spanish language level

Wondering where you stand on the path to fluency? This free Spanish language test is designed to measure your current abilities across four key areas: everyday vocabulary, basic grammar, intermediate structures, and advanced concepts. With 40 carefully chosen questions that progress from simple greetings to complex subjunctive clauses, the test gives you a clear, honest snapshot of your strengths and the topics you should focus on next. There is no time limit and no registration - just click Start and answer at your own pace.

How the test works

The first ten questions are a test in Spanish vocabulary: colors, numbers, family members, animals and everyday objects. If you can get through these comfortably, the next ten move into basic grammar - verb conjugations, articles, ser versus estar, and sentence formation. Questions 21 through 30 cover intermediate territory such as past tenses, the subjunctive mood, reflexive verbs, and por versus para. The final ten questions tackle advanced grammar including the conditional perfect, reported speech, redundant pronouns, and subtle meaning differences that separate fluent speakers from intermediate learners.

Once you have answered all 40 questions, the spanish assessment test calculates your score and assigns you a level from Beginner A1 to Advanced C1 based on the Common European Framework of Reference. You will also see a breakdown of your performance in each category, so you know exactly which areas need work. A score above 90 percent puts you at C1 level, while below 35 percent means you are just getting started - and that is perfectly fine, because every fluent speaker was once a beginner.

Why take a proficiency test

A spanish proficiency test is the fastest way to create an efficient study plan. Instead of starting from lesson one and working through material you already know, you can identify your weak points and jump straight to the lessons that will make the biggest difference.
